INTENSE HEAT IN ENGLAND.

NINE DEATHS OobASIONED. A GUNPOWDER EXPLOSION CAUSED. (Received August 13, 10.45 p.m.) LONDON, August 13. The heat has caused eight deaths in England, and also an explosion at the Chilworth Gunpowder Company’s works near Buxton, by which one man was killed.

Eighty-six degrees in the shade were registered in London. The wheat crops have been greatly benefited by the heat.
