ST. PETERSBURG, Aug. 12
Russian guards fired at a German balloon crossing the Silesian frontier near Prozelaika. The balloonists were compelled to descend. Three aeronauts were killed and a fourth seriously wounded.
The Germans| state that the Russians opened fire before tbe balloon crossed the frontier.

(Received August 13, 10.45 p.m.) ST. PETERSBURG, August 13. The Silesia frontier incident is contradicted, and it is officially stated that tlie aeronauts were merely detained till their passports were examined, and -were then allowed to depart.
