With reference to the fire on board, a report of which was cabled on July IC, the origin is a mystery. The jettisoned cargo included -1000 cases of dynamite and 40 cases of detonators stored in the hold adjoining the place wliere the outbreak occurred. The fire was still burning fiercely when the vessel arrived at Port Louis, and the crew with great efforts succeeded in quelling it. [The Borkum is a German vessel, and the fire occurred on her passage lrom Bremen to Australia.]
