THE OTIRA TUNNEL
THE TROUBLE STILL UNSETTLED. i P i'h Pitrss Association.! CHRISTCHURCH, August 18. The Otira correspondent of the Press telegraphs that the report that the men at the Bealey end of the tunnel had ceased work is incorrect; the men are working at present, and all men are working outside the tunnel. At the Otira end they are all working as usual. Only the men who are working in the tunnel and require light are affected. Phe shifts night, day, and afternoon, continue to go up to work as usual, but no lights being forthcoming the men have to return to their huts. A telegram from Otira states that Air. Moston, of the Labor Department, and Mr. Gavin, engineer in charge of the tunnel work, had a conference today regarding the dispute, but nothing definite was arrived at.
