SITTINGS AT WELLINGTON. (Per Press Association.? WELLINGTON. August 18. David Johnston, belonging to the crew of IT.M.S. Challenger, was acquitted on a charge of indecently assaulting a girl. SITTINGS AT CHRISTCHURCH. CHRISTCHURCH. August- IS. At the Supreme Court to-day Richard John Leslie Bromley was found not guilty of porjuary in connection with; an affiliation case. Alfred Ernest Albert Jolinst-on was found not guilty of theft of certain tools, valued at £4 2s. James Gill was found not guilty of breaking and entering the hut of a railway cleaner at Methven. It was alleged that he had entered the hut of another railway employee and presented a loaded revolver at him. The defence was that the accused was toodrunk to effect, an entrance through an eigliteen-inch wide window, or to load a revolver. SITTINGS AT DUNEDIN. DUNEDIN, August 18. At the Supreme Court to-day Frederick Charles Laley was convicted on a charge of wilfully setting fire to a dwelling house in Dumbs Street., and sentence was deferred. Frederick Matthews was found guilty on charges of breaking .and entering and theft. In this case also sentence was deferred.
