iPnu I’ni.s.H Association.] DUNEDIN, August 20.
A deputation of boilermakers, introduced by Mr. Arnold, M.P., waited on the Iloii. J. A. Millar to-night to invoke his assistance for tne lire vent ion of the importation of articles which coiild be made in the Dominion. They instanced a gas-holder in the vicinity, erected by the city corporation, also a rotary kiln erected by the Cement Company. They also pointed out that several steamers built outside the colony could be built here, also dredges, yet three of the latter bad been imported lately, • The Minister sympathised with the deputation, but was unwilling to undertake another tariff revision, one being enough for any man in his lifetime. He ended his somewhat lengthy remarks by a suggestion that it was the duty of local bodies to keep work in the colony if possible.
