The letter notifying the appointment says that the journey is being undertaken “‘in the hope of enlisting the interest of faculty and students in the temperance cause, as understood by the W.C.T.U.” Mrs. Stevenson had an opportunity of speaking through an interpreter to over 100 schools in China. In Tsientsin four schools were addressed in one dav. The official corresponding to our Mayor, with eight other officials in State robes, presided at Mrs. Stevenson’s, meeting, which was attended by 700 Chinese and. *'e officials gave a great banquet afterwards. Mrs. Stevenson is t-o give a public address in His Majesty’s Theatre at 8 o’clock to-night.
