POVERTY BAY RUGBY UNION. The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the Poverty Bay Rugby Union was held in the Masonic Hotel last evening. Present: Messrs J. S. Wauchop, J. A. . Eaton, H. Bright, W. Johnston, and E. L. Maude (hon. sec.) Mr. Waucliop presided. . The secretary of the Wairoa subUnion telegraphed stating that, the team was arriving on Wednesday night. Arrangements for the match with Poverty Bay on Saturday next were made. Matters for the entertainment of the team were left in the hands of the secretary. The secretary of the Mangatu subUnion wrote regarding the Mangatu v. Wairoa match at the Domain on Thursday.—Received. The management of the Pathe Pictures wrote stating that they would give a special football night on Wednesday next, and place reserved seats at; the disposal of the^Union for the touring team. —The offer was received with thanks.

The secretary of tli9 Gisborne Football Club wrote asking for the appeal match, Gisborne v. City, to be replayed. —The letter was held ever. It was decided to postpone the Thursday competition to the 2nd September. The New Zealand Rugby .Union forwarded a list of disqualified persons, confirmed by the Union. —Received. A number of pi ay cm were passed for Y.M.C.A., United, and Defence Cadets Clubs. Hon. J. Carroll’s offer of a silver cup was accepted with thanks, and the secretary was instructed to order at once. The remaining fixtures were then discussed, and it was decided to abandon the Saturday town and country competitions, aiid fixtures for the leading town and country team in the competitions were made as follows : —September 4, Kaiti-City v. Makauri; September 11, Kaiti-City v. Makauri; September 18, Kaiti-City v: Makauri. No senior match will be played next Saturday on account of the Wairoa v. Poverty Bay representative match on that* day. , ~ . Junior competitions.—-As the tour junior teams are equal, it was decided to play the following matches to end the competition:! September 4, Y.M. C.A. v. Kaiti-City, September 11; United v. Makauri, September 18. Winners in the above games to play the final. . _ Third' grade competition.—lt was decided to play the final on Saturday next August 28, when Defence Cadets will'meet” Y.M.C.A. The match is to be a curtain-raiser to the representative match. THE WAIROA TEAM. (Special to “Times.”) WAIROA, August 23. The following team will leave Wairoa for Gisborne to-morrow morning to play matches against Poverty Bay on Friday and Saturday next: Full-back, Sinclair-; three-quarters, Fowler, B. Gemmell, Wi Friday; five-eighths, Payne and Green; half, Tuavheueta, forwards, King (wing), Slunie.S. Lambert, -H. Lambert, Kicle, Campbell, Fleming, and Bosun.
