A Royal Commission to inquire into the management of. the Parksido .Lunatic Asylum found that some criminal lunatics wore allowed some extraordinary privileges, such as having whole days away from the asylum and attending theatres. One inmate, . who was sentenced to 20. years for highway robbery, who became a patient, had as many as twenty drinks while out with an attendant. The Commission recommended more strict control and a rigid system of inspection.
