SHED ON VICTORIA DOMAIN v, DESTROYED. It was shortly discovered that thWoutbrcak. was m the dressing-shed on side of the Victoria Domain, and as 'the flames had got a strong hold before the val of assistance the building was totally destroyed. The shed contained some valuable football and picketing material, and despite the efforts of a willing band of hoi per s comxiarativcly little was saved. The cause of the outbreak is unknown, but it is surmised that some or the players who were using the .shed about an hour previously had carelessly thrown down a match or possibly a lighted cigarette end, which, coming into contact with some inflammable material in the shed, smouldered tor some time before bursting into flames. It is understood that the damage is not completely covered by insurance. IN GLADSTONE ROAD. Shortly after 7 o’clock on Saturday evening a fire occurred in the office of Mr. A. Teesdale, surveyor, which is situated next to the “Noah’s Ark second-hand shop in Gladstone Load. The fire was discovered by two young men, who saw smoke issuing from the roof, and they immediately gave the alarm. The Fire Birgade, under Superintendent J. Townlev, was quickly in attendance, and turned on the water before much flame was to be seen. After the fire was extinguished it was found that a number of plans and drawings had been badly damaged by fire and water, but the building, a weather-board one, was practically uninjured. How the fire originated is unknown. The building was owned by Air. Teesdale, and was insured. BOARDING-HOUSE IN WELLINGTON BURNED. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, August 29. A large two-storey house in Kent Terrace, occupied as a boarding-house by Airs. Waddell, was destroyed by fire on Saturday evening. The adjoining house, which is next to Kent Terrace Presbyterian Church, was also damaged. No insurances are ascertainable.
