At the annual meeting of the Chamber of Manufacturers the president quoted statistics showing that the number of males employed in New South Wales factories last year was 67,617, females 21,481, value of machinery and plant, £9,584,000; as compared with 65,933 males, 20,514 fekiales, and £9,044,000 value of plaffib in the previous year. He predicted&the success of the Industrial Disputes Act once it was properly in force. He expressed gratification at the growing demand for Australian-made in place of imported goods.
