THE MANCHESTER UNITY.
A LIFE INSURANCE SCHEME
A scheme of life insurance has just >been inaugurated by the Auckland District of the Manchester Unity of Oddfellows, which marks an important 6tage in the work of Friendly Societies. After quoting the schedule of premiums, which have been fixed, Mr J. McLeod, Provincial Corresponding Secretary, says: —“The District is able to offer these favorable rates to brethren, because the very heavy management and office costs of ordinary Life Insurance. Societies are quite unnecessary in the case of the Manchester Unity, since it has been found that its members have, in the past, ably and willingly acted as its missionaries without any reward, excepting the knowledge that, in advocating the claims of the Order, they have been doing a distinct service to their fellow-men; consequently, it is not too much to expect that they will not fail to bring the advantages of District Life Insurance before present and prospective members. The soundness of the system is assured, because the table of contributions and benefits has been prepared by the Government Actuary on New Zealand life experience.” Mr. C. H. Ambridge, secretary of the local Lodge, is prepared to supply local members with full particulars of the scheme.
