POVERTY BAY HOCKEY ASSOCIATION.

The usual weekly 'meeting of the Poverty Bay Hockey Association was held last night in the Royal Hotel., There was a large attendance of delegates, and Mr., G. K< Pasley occupied the chair. , „ , The New Zealand Hockey Association wrote stating that the! Auckland Association would bel unable to play Poverty Bay on any Friday, and that all dates for Saturday matches had already been allotted.—The secretary was instructed to write to the New Zealand Hockey Association pointing out that Poverty Bay was one of the first Associations to send in a challenge, and to ask why, in view of this early application, that a date had not been allotted to\ Poverty Bay. A wire was received from the secretary of the Hawke’s Bay Hockey Association, as follows: “Impossible send team this week, will wire later. —Received. , „ ’ ' A letter was -received from tliej referee in last Thursday’s game between City and West End, notifying that a player of the latter club had been ordered off the field for rough play, .also reporting another player and referee, for openly siding with the offending player. . Mention 7 was also made of another West End: player who made use of insulting language to the referee at the conclusion of the game, and the writer handed in his resignation as a referee, in view of the unsportsmanlike conduct of players generally. _ It was decided, after discussion, to ask the referee and the individuals mentioned in the letter to attend the next meeting of the Association for further information. The Gisborne ladies were granted the use Of the Domain from 3.15 p.m. to--morrow to.play a match against the Bushmere ladies. | r Mr. J. J. Martin, the selector, was requested to' pick A and B teams to play a practice match, in view of the approaching visit of the Hawke’s Bay ; team. ' - , It was decided, in view of the state of the competition, to discontinue the fourth round, thus leaving West End the premier club for the season. v GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL v. HASTINGS. A match between teams representing the Gisborne Girls’ High School and Hastings is to take place, at Victoria Domain on Saturday, next, beginning at 1.45 p.m.
