The New Zealand Shipping Co.’s s.s. Rakaia was spoken on August 26 in latitude 13.34 south, and longtitude 0.12 east, “not under command.”

[The Rakaia, which is a steamer of 5628 tons gross register, commanded by Captain Vine, left Plymouth on August 7,- for New Zealand. Auckland was to have been her first port of call in the Dominion. The position where she was spoken is off the southern) portion of the west coast of Africa.]
