THE POST OFFICE ROBBERY

WIMSETT FOUND ‘‘NOT GUILTY."

[Pee Peess Association.] WELLINGTON, September 1. The fifth day of tho trial of Arthur F. Wimsett, charged with complicity in the robbery from the parcels post office in January last, was entered upon to-day. Accused’s wife related a conversation she had with Hemingway in gaol. Witness spoke of her husband’s arrest, and asked Hemingway what he was going to do. Hemingway replied, “I am going into the box to give Wimsett five solid years, as ho has given to me.” She replied, “How can you do that?” Hemingway answered, “I am in for five years. What with you giving stuff to the detectives, and Arthur with his long tongue and telling the detectives I ivas in Sydney, I am here.” He added that a detective told him Wimsett had given information away. Several witnesses testified to the good character of Wimsett. The trial came to a conclusion this afternoon. Without leaving the box the jury found Wimsett not guilty, adding that the trial left no stain on his character.
