THE MAORI HAKA TROUPE.

WELLINGTON, Sept. 2. The “Evening Post’s” correspondent, at San Francisco reports that seventeen of the members of tho Maori halta troupe for the New York Hippodrome were detained at San Francisco, said to bo suffering from trachoma eye disease. Medical advico called by the representatives of the Maoris, the ship, and the Hippodrome management, was to the effect that the Maoris were free from disease. A deadlock ensued, the landing of the Maori suspects being refused. When tho mail left an independent medical man was to be called in. All the Maori entertainers wore allowed to land at San Francisco. Two other New Zealanders, however, who went by the boat were stopped because they suffered from trachoma, and • had to return to New Zealand.
