Messrs AVilliams and Kettle have received the following wool report from their London agents, under date of 23rd July: The fourth series of colonial wool sales for the current year, which opened on the '6th inst., terminated on the 20th idem. Of the total quantity available, viz., 150,485 bales, 146,751 were catalogued, whilst about 14,000 bales were withdrawn or held over for future realisation. Of the quantity sold about 61,000 bales have been taken for export, including 9000 for America. The attendance of buyers throughout has been very large, and whilst competition has been general and good, the American section of the trade have exercised much greater discrimination in their purchases . than last series, and have confined their operations for ,the most part to the very best fine and medium crossbreds, and the lightest ertnditioned merinos in the grease. In the case of crossbreds thb light conditioned fine and medium descriptions in the grease, where suitable for America, have shown but little change on last sale currencies; but for the coarser clips, thdugb of good style, as well as the poorer lots of fnedium ■ and coarse wools, a set-back of 5 to 10 per cent has tajeen place, the greatest fall being noticeable on the coarse descriptions. As is usual at this time of the year, scoureds and slipes liave been in large supply, and have met a. somewhat disappointing market, for although the finer descriptions have occasionally maintained previous values, they have more frequently shown a decline- of 5 per cent., whilst others mark a fall of 7* to 10 per cent. The next sales will commence on the 21st September, and tho sixth and last on the 23rd November, without limit as to quantity.
