THE MISSING WARATAH.
HER LAST SIGNAL. United Press Association —Copyright LONDON, Sept. 2. The steamer Clan Macintyre has arrived in London. She reports that she received the Waratah’s last signal on the morning of the 27th July, the signal being “Good-bye.” A hurricane was experienced next day, the sea rising in wall-liko formation, owing to the current running against the wind.
PESSIMISTIC STATEMENT BY EXPASSENGER.

A passenger by the Waratali, in an interview at Capetown, stated that he booked through. by the vessel, but left her at Durban, not liking the way she behaved on tho voyage from Australia. When she rolled and pitched it was in a dead i fashion. She took a long time to recover herself, and had tremendous top hamper. He tried to induce others to leave the ship. A THREE MO.NTHS’ SEARCH IN PREPARATION. MELBOURNE, Sept. 3. Negotiations are almost completed for the despatch of a special steamer to search for the Waratali. The cost is estimated at about £6OOO sterling for a three months’ cruise. The expense will be borne in equal shares by the Federal Government, the owners, underwriters, and public subscriptions.
