" A SUDDEN DEATH. [Per Press association.! WELLINGTON, Sept. 6. William Higgmson, aged 35, died suddenly at a boarding-liouse in Dixon street this morning. He had been complaining of a cold for five weeks, and had been confined in his house for a day or two. His room mate called a doctor, who found him suffering from pneumonia, and ordered his removal to the hospital:. Before he could be shifted he fell back in bed, and expired. He is supposed to be a single man, with no relatives in New Zealand. DEATH FROM HEART FAILURE. I>UNEDIN, Sept. 6. Mr. W. J. Tonkin, a well known frozen meat and rabbit exporter, died suddenly of heart failure on Saturday night. He was -also identified with the flaxmilling industry, and was once a flourmiller in Timaru. THROWN FROM A HORSE. Colin McLean, aged 32, single, was thrown from his horse at Goodwood, near Waikouiti. and was picked up unconscious. He’ died two hours afterwards, his skull being badly fractured. OLD AGE PENSIONER’S DEATH. INVERCARGILL. Sept. 6. While out walking on Sunday evening, an old age pensioner, William Symes, dropped dead at Forest Hin. Heart disease was the cause. MAN FOUND SHOT. HOKITIKA. Sept. 6. A young man, John Rigan, was found' with a bullet wound through tho roof of his mouth, in a ciaim at Ross yesterday. There was a Winchester rifle at his side. Ife had been absent since Friday, hut it was thought he had gone north. No cause is assigned for the apparent death by suicide.
