ROWING.

GISBORNfi ROWING CLUB. The weekly meeting of the Committee of the Gisborne Rowing Club was held last night, when several matters affecting the forthcoming season were dealt with. . It was keenly urged that a local centre of the Rowing Association should be formed here, to include the two local clubs and the Uawa Rowing Club, on account of the growing enthusiasm as to rowing in the district and the lack of support given from the present centre at Napier. It was decided that the Poverty Bay Rowing Club be approached in the matter. Six new members were elected. The captain reported that the shed and plant would probably be all in working order to send craws out practising in about ten days’ time . The opening ceremony is to take place oil a later date to be arranged. Rules and conditions for the Cup presented by Mr. C. W. Muir were presented by the sub-committee appointed to draw them up, and were confirmed. Donations of trophies were received from the Mr A. F. Kennedy) and from Mr. Robt. Robertson, and the outlook for the season generally appears very encouraging. A motion was passed conveying the club’s sympathy to Mr. Wm. Johnston in the bereavement he recently sustained by the loss of his father.
