TARANAKI OIL FIELDS.

DAMAGE BY FIRE ESTIMATED AT £4OO. [Per Press Association.] NEW PLYMOUTH, Sept. .7. ■ The- directors of the Taranaki Petroleum Company met this morning, and decided to remove -the derrick now idle on the Whiteley Trust property to No. 3 bore. The engine apparently has not been damaged, and it is confidently hoped to have all in working order again within three weeks. Until then it is impossible to say definitely whether the bore has suffered in any way. Providentially a heavy beam fell on top and effectually cut off the gas and oil while the fire was in progress. The total damage is estimated at about £4OO. '
