Captain Jensen, of the scow Alert, has received notification of his appointment as master of the Auckland tug, s.s. Wairoa. Recent soundings taken in the new channel at Wanganui showed 1.1 feet of water two hours before high title. As the tides were also neaps, about 14 feet or 15 feet is expected at next springs.
