PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
A CALL FROM QUEENSLAND.
[Per Press Association.l CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 9. The Rev. T. Tait, of St. Paul’s Church, has been asked if he will allow himself to be called to the pastorate of the leading Presbyterian Church, St. Andrew’s, in Brisbane, Queensland. The'stipend offered is £750. There is a fine new building, which was erected four years ago at a cost of £22,000, and it is' practically free of debt. The church hall is as large as the church itself, and has a suite of smaller rooms attaohed. There is also a splendfd organ, which cost about £2OOO. The office-bearers have informed Mr. Tait that no steps will be taken with regard to the vacancy until he gives his decision. There are few’ positions of greater influence in the Commonwealth than that occupied by the minister of St. Andrew’s in Brisbane, and this is at least the fifth time that an effort has been made to induce Mr. Tait to leave his present charge. In answer to a reporter to-day, Mr. Tait said he had only received the invitation by that morning’s mail, and he had not had time to come- to any decision m the matter.
