Kaufmann, . of San Francisco. _ ' . v (Receiced September 10, 5.20 p.m.) Interest in the fight was slight. It was arranged that if both contestants were on the’ir.- feet* at the end of the 10th round, ino decision would be given, but the referee, Mr. Eddie Smith, promises to give an opinion to the newspapers. Johnson was hooted as he entered the ring, whilst Kaufmann . was. cheered.' The champion commenced punishing from the start, smiling the while. Kaufmann was slow. The Californian tumbled when the gong p went at the end -of the third V apparently a beaten man. In the fifth round,> Kaufmann was constantly on the defensive, being unable to get at the champion. In the sixth round the champion ß knocked Kaufmann through the rones. Johnson was complete rnas- : - ter and had everything his own way.
