SALOON STEWARD OF FLORA DROWNED.
[Per Press Association.! f AUCKLAND, Sept, 12. James E, Rowley, aged 38, saloon steward of the steamer Flora, was drowned on Saturday afternoon. lhe steamer was loading lime at Limestone Island. The deceased went in for a swim, and is believed to have been seized with cramp. FATAL FALL ON THE ARAWA. WELLINGTON, Sept. 11. James T. Asquith, a married man, aged about 50, employed by a local stevedore, fell down the ho id of the Shaw, Savill steamer Arawa at Queen s wharf this morning, and sustained such, injuries that he died 10 minutes' after being picked up WELLINGTON, Sept, 12. At the inquest on James T. Asquith, who fell down the hold of the Arawa on Saturday, a verdict of accidental death was returned. DEATH FROM TRAM INJURIES. DUNEDIN, Sept. 11. A child named Wilhelmina Hendry, aged one year and ten months, who was injured on the Roslyn tram lme last Saturday, died last night, The child ran in front of the car, and although the driver pulled up quickly, one of the wheels passed over her foot. The toes had to be amputated. The child was quite prostrated by the shock.
