SAVES A LITTLE GIRL.

Onitkd Pbebs Association— Copybigiit MELBOURNE, Sept. 13. Muir, a railway ganger at Horsham, performed a deed of heroism while in charge of a ballast train. Going round a curve he saw a little child standing on the line on which 1 another train, travelling at twenty miles an hour, was approaching. When the engine of the advancing train was within fifty yards of the child, Muir jumped from his train and managed to pick up the child and reach safety before the passenger train passed over the spot.
