MONDAY, SEPT. 13. DRUNKENNESS. (Before M. "VV. A. Barton, S.M.) Herbert Gush was brought up for drunkenness and for having procured liquor during the currency of a prohibition order. He pleaded guilty, and on the first, charge was fined 5s and 2s costs, or 24 hours. - •
On the second charge a fine of £5 and 25s costs was imposed, or 30 days in default, His Worship refusing to allow the accused time to ‘pay in. • . George Fraser (on rein arid) was charged on a similar offence, and pleaded guilty. He said that he was on the point of starting for Western Australia 1 when arrested, and Sergeant Huttori corroborated the statement by stating that the accused had in his possession a ticket for Wellington. The Magistrate inflicted a fine of £1 and 25s costs, or 48 hours,' on the understanding that Fraser would in custody till the departure of the boat tomorrow. , ' MAINTENANCE ORDERS. The case was called in which Charles Single was summoned lor non-payment of wife maintenance arrears, amounting to £l3O. 7s. " ' • The accused, who did not appear, had submitted £5 17s, arid the case was adjbiifried to October ,18th. , John Darvill was charged with fad-; ure to comply. with an ! order for the maintenance of his mother. The accused paid £1 into court, and the case was adjourned unitl October 25th, da the rinderstariding tlrat Darvill Bhorild pay up the arrears' amounting to * £9. in the meantime.
