TOKOMARU BAY

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The annual plain and fancy dress footballers’ ball was held on Friday last in the Tokomaru Hall, and was again a great success. There were such a number present that they took up about a third of the space reserved for dancing as well as all the seating accommodation. Many and various were the fancy dresses. Prizes were given, one for the best lady’s, and one for the best gentleman’s fancy dress. Miss Gerard, as “Nurse,” was the successful lady, and Mr. Moreby, as “Father Christmas,” curried off the gentleman’s prize. Other drosses that attracted attention were Miss Dalton, as “Harvest”; Miss Oates, “Winter”; Mrs. Rangiwaha Postcard Girl; Mrs. Te Rina, “Night” ; Miss Alison, Spanish Dancing Girl; and Mrs. Palnna, Football Girl; Mr. Raliihere, Tramp; Mr G. Oates, Irish Landlord; Master Pewhairangi, Maori Chief; Mr. Connelly, Jew ; and Mr. R. Brown, Gold Top.” The music was supplied by the Tologa Bay trio, Misses Lockwood, Moore, and Kirikiri, and was excellent. When all expenses are paid there should he a considerable balance over to supplement the funds of the club.
