HOSPITAL TRUSTEES.

MONTHLY MEETING.

The usual monthly meeting of the Hospital Board of Trustees was held in the County Council Chambers last night. Present: Messrs J. W. Bright (chariman), A. F. Matthews, A. Dewing, E. H. Mann, G. E. Darton, WI). S. MacDonald, and Hon. Captain Tucker, Dr. Wilson was also in attendance.

A letter was received from Nurse May at the Hospital tendering her resignation. A similar letter was received from Nurse Light.—The resignations were accepted with regret. The matron of the Hospital wrote asking that a girl be appointed at the Hospital "for 'answering the doorbell, telephone calls, anti to fill in her time with housemaid’s duties.—lt was decided to agree to the request. Mr. Chas. H. Bridge, of Motu, wrote in reference to Dr. Valintine’s scheme for assisting country districts to procure the services of a. resident qualified nurse. He asked if the Board would, in the event of the Motu, district contributing £SO towards a nurse’s salary, co-operate with them and provide another £SO. Some discussion ensued on the reading of the letter, and it was decided to recommend Mr. Bridge to consult with Dr. Valintine and approach the Board again. The Treasurer presented the following financial statement: —Receipts £BS 14s; expenditure £310; debit balance £22-5 9s Bd. The report'was adopted on the motion of tbe chairman. The Secretary read the house report, as follows: —Patients remaining, at last meeting, 32; admitted ‘ since, 25; discharged, 23; died, 1; remaining at liresent, 33. . On behalf of the Visiting Committee, Captain Tucker reported having visited the Hospital on several occasions. No complaints had been made to him, and he had found everything at the institution to be in a mest satisfactory condition. The Chairman endorsed Captain Tucker’s remarks regarding the state of affairs at the -Hospital. Accounts were passed for payment amounting to £175 16s 6do. Tenders for Hospital supplies ftyefe accepted follows: —Groceries, W. A. O’Meara and Co.; bread, no tender accepted, orders to be distributed; butter, Clare and Co., milk, F. B. Bousfield, B§d gallon; firewood, D. Dunlop, manuka., 32s 6d cord; coal, Westport Coal Co. (Newcastle), 365. Messrs F. J. Lysnar and G. E. Darton were appointed the visiting oommittce for the ensuing month. It was decided to call for fresh tenders for the supply of dressings and general medical supplies to the Hospital. A few minor improvements to the Hospital and surroundings were authorised, and the meeting terminated.
