ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
A ROAD ACCIDENT AT WUATATUTU. Yesterday, about midday, as Mr. Batchelor and Miss Webb were driving from-To Karaka to Whatauuu, the horse became restless on the steep hill running into the latter township, and plunged so violently as to cause Mr. Batchelor, who was driving, to be thrown out of the vehicle. The horse then dashed along a short distance tilt the trap collided with a post and was overturned. Miss Webb escaped wit.fi a nasty cut under the chin, while Mr. Batchelor sustained an ankle sprain, besides having injuries to his back through a- wheel of the vehicle passing over him. Fortunately several motor care were at the time outside the M hatatutu hotel, and Mr. T, Adair, in one of them, proceeded to the top of the hill and brought down Mr. Batchelor, who was quite unable to walk. Both the injured ones were well attended to at the Whatutuiu Hotel. INQUEST ON RAILWAY PORTER. [Per Press Association'.l WESTPORT, Sent. IS.
