MOTHERLAND

The Commercial Intelligence Committee of the Canadian Manufacturers’ Association reports that Germany is anxious for a treaty, but the general feeling of manufacturers does not favor a -remission of the Customs surtax. Mr Graham, Minister for Public Works, at the annual banquet, referring to the American tariff, recommended a dignified attitude. New fields for Canadian enterprise have been found before, and could be found again. Canada’s policy was to continue preference to the Motherland.
