The “Spectator” endeavors to furnish a reason for the proposed motor roads under the Development Bill by representing that Mr. Lloyd-George desires to nationalise the railways, and hopes to ultimately secure that end by encouraging motor traffic to compete with the railways, lessen the latter’s value, and induce the shareholders to sell at an easy figure.
