A SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE

[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Sept. 22. The telegraph business of the Dominion for August last shows' a substantial increase as compared with the figures for the corresponding month last year. In August. 1909, telegrams numbered 590,910, and the net revenue £18,828 7s 6d. In August, 1908, the number was 569,629, and tho net revenue £17,927 19s Id. The percentage of increase works out at 3.74 in. jtno number of telegrams handled and 5.03 revenue. For the purpose of comparison it should be noted that the increased business was usually obtained during the Parliamentary session, and forming part of tho. revenue for August, 1908, is shown, but not for the last month, so the figures are all the more satisfactory.
