THE COUNTESS OF ELGIN
United Press Association —Copyright. (Received September 26, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 25. The death- of the Countess of Elgin is announced. [Constance, Countess of Elgin, waii the second daughter of the Earl of Southesk, and in 1876 was married to the Earl of Elgin, who was Secretary of State for the Colonies from 1905 to 1908.]
AIR. DAVID CRAIG
[Per Press Association.' AUCKLAND, Sept, 25. The death occurred yesterday of Mr. David Craig, formerly general manager for New Zealand of the New Zealand Insurance Company. Mr. Craig had reached the allotted span of iife. He entered the service of the New Zealand Insurance Company in 1867. Promotion came rapidly his way. chiefly on account of his exceptional business ability. For a considerable number of years he acted as manager for the company at Christchurch, and appreciation of_ his valuable services during that period is recorded in the company. iva s appointed general manager for New Zealand for the company about 1596, and thence, till 1903, he had charge of the head office at Auckland, retiring :n that year on superannuation. Since his severance from the company Mr. Craig had lived a retired life in Auckland. Alout a fortnight ago he was uuc with a paralytic troke.
