BREAKING AND ENTERING.
[Per Press Association.!, MASTERTON, Sept. 25. Alfred Longley and Roland Ranger have been committed for trial on a charge of breaking and entering the shop of Alexander White, tobacconist, and stealing therefrom tobacco, pipes, and tobacco pouches valued at £5.
A NEW RAILWAY
GORE, Sept. 25. Mr. Buddo yesterday opened the Riversdale-Switeers railway line. It was first authorised in 1878. The first contract was let in 1883. The rails were laid two miles in 1900, but one Sunday a gang of platelayers were sent to the localitv and tore up the rails and sleepers. The railway is 14 miles in length and opens up good agricultural land and mining areas. The approximate cost is £.58,000. The Minister goes south to-day.-
