COAST
United Press Association —Copyright (Received September 27. 10.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 27.
A fierce southerly gale is raging along the whole coastline. The American schooner Alpena, from Melbourne, is lying in a critical situation at anchor off Stockton beach, Newcastle. The lifeboat went out and took off the captain’s wife, then made a second trip and took off the captain and crew. While crossing the lifeboat overturned, but the towing steamer rescued all hands with difficulty.
