WIRELESS

The dictates of humanity demand that the owners of all steamers, going long-distance voyages should bo compelled to equip their vessels with 'this beneficent modern invention. It is not necessary to speak of the expense involved when the safety of lives is at stake, but probably the cost of equipping the whole of the .steamers or the Lund line with Marconi apparatus would have been saved many times over had the Waratah possessed the power to project the electric spark at the moment when it was needed to carry over the waters its signal of distress and appeal for help. It is to be hoped the Government of the Dominion will lose no time in giving full consideration to this most important question, and make legislative provision for this necessary measure of safety at sea.—Taranaki “News.”
