The following is the Rev. I). C. Bates’ report and forecast: —The weather has been cloudy and showery in most parts of the country. Moderate to strong northerly winds prevailed everywhere until about midnight, when they veered in the South Island to the south-west, with electrical d stu: bance.:. The barometer has risen slowly over the South Island since but has continued to fall North Island. The present ' indication. , however, are far an increase id ore.some shortly in the North and another fa.l in the South, which will probably scon steepen the barometric gradients, and cause strong westerly winds r.nd changeable weather, more bracing than lately < xnerienced.
