GENERAL ELECTIONS. A MINISTERIAL VICTORY. Ifnitui) riiKHS Association —Copyright (Received October 3, 5.5 p.m.) BRISBANE, October 3. The election returns are incomplete. The Ministry carried the metropolitan area. The Blairites, or IndependentOpposition, have been wiped out. The Labor party, at their expense chiefly, have gained five seats. Mr. Kidston, who headed the poll at last election, had to be content with second place, while Mr. Pliilp, at Townsville, had a great struggle for second place. Labor headed the poll there. The latest returns show: Labor 28, Ministerialists 10, Independents 4. (Received October 4, 1.5 a.m.) BRISBANE, October 3. Though many returns are still incomplete and some may be altered, the latest returns show: Ministerialists ..1 ••• 40 Laborites 28 Independents 4 Mr. Jackson, Minister of Mines, lost the Kennedy seat to Mr. O’Sullivan (Labor). All the other Ministers are either returned or considered safe. Mr.. Philp, at Townsville, squeezed in between two Laborites. Mr Peter Airey, ex-Minister, who figured as an Independent, was defeated at South Biisbane. [The Queensland Lower House consists of 72 members.]
