THE WEATHER

The Itev. D. C. Bates reports an extensive area of low pressure from the westward, now speeding over the country, and will probably cause very unsettled weather everywhere during the early part of this week. A fall of nearly half-an-inch in pressure and a west-south-west moderate gale is reported to-night at tile Bluff. The wind has changed to the northward, and is freshening over the North Island. A north-west gale lias prevailed at Wellington since midnight. Heavy northerly and westerly winds and squalls, with rain, are probable everywhere, especially on tiie west coast and in Cook’s Strait.
