TWO SEARCH VESSELS TO BE DESPATCHED.

WELLINGTON, October 6The steamer Gertie and the training ship Amokura will commence thensearch for the steamer Duco, which left Wellington for the Chatham Islands on September 7tli and has not been seen since or heard of. The Amokura will steam about sixty miles in an east-south-easterly direction from Cape Pailiser, then for six hundred miles east-north-east in a direct line. If the search is then unsuccessful, she will zigzag back to the New Zealand coast. The Gertie is to proceed in a direct easterly direction for about sixty miles, then hold away in a straight line to the north-east. She will then approach the track of the Amokura, and the two vessels will thus traverse a triangular course from Cape Palilser. Mr. W hiteford, chief officer of the Government steamer Tutanekai, will represent the Marine Department aboard the Gertie. H.M.S. Challenger, which is coming from Auckland to "Wellington, Js to keep a look-out for the Duco. Mr. Moore, agent for the Shipwreck Relief Societv, will put aboard the Amokura and the Gertie supplies of boots and clothes and other necessaries for the crew of the Duco in case she is found.
