A STEAMER WRECKED.
A NEW VESSEL LOST AT! THE ISLANDS. United I'iiknh Association (Jos* yuigiit (Received October 7, 10.40 p.m.) SYDNEY, October 7. The agents of the Pacific Phosphates Company received a cable to-day stating that their steamer Ocean Queen had been wrecked at Makatea, in the Low Archipelago, and that all aboard were saved. No other details were given. The Ocean Queen was a new vessel, built especially for the phosphates trade, and w r as on her maiden voyage. She loaded phosphates at Ocean Island, proceeded to Honululu, and left there again early in August en route for Sydney, via Ocean Island. Mr. Arundel, one of the directors of the Phosphates Company, was aboard. rp K R Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Oct. 7. The Hauroto arrived in Wellington harbor to-night from Rarotonga, and signals that the Norwegian steamer Ocean Queen. 3188 tons, was wrecked on Makatea Lsland, Low Archipelago, about September 7th. No lives were lost.
