THE WEATHER

The following is the Ilev. D. C, Bates’ summary and forecast:—Moderate to strong southerly winds have prevailed north of New Plymouth and Napier, and strong and squally westcrlys elsewhere. The barometer has risen steadily in the north, but only slowly in the south. The weather has been unsettled on the west coast of the South Island, and in the extreme south, but fair elsewhere. The present indications are for freshening northerly winds soon over the North Island, and strong westerlys elsewhere, witji a falling barometer shortly everywhere. Warm and humid conditions will probably prevail, with rain in parts, especially in the western and southern districts.
