IMPERIAL DEFENCE.
THE CANADIAN NAVAL DEFENCE BILL. United Press Association— Copyright. (Received October 8, 10.5 p.m.) LONDON, October 8. The “Times” Ottawa correspondent reports that the Naval Defence Bill Tv-ill be one of the first measures introduced in the session of the Canadian Parliament opening on November 11th. The Government hopes that the loyal assent to the Bill will be obtained before the session ends, in order that Parliament may be enabled to vote the money for the construction of the cruisers and destroyers. Nine vessels are to be placed in the Atlantic and three in the Pacific. The capital expenditure will be four millions sterling, and the annual outlay £600,000. Negotiations are proceeding with the Admiralty for the immediate loan of a cruiser which will be stationed in the Atlantic for the purpose of training cadets and seamen.
