Tho Rev. W. Lamb and Mr E. E. Toneyeliffe left for Wellington by the Ta rawer a last evening to represent this district at the Baptist Conference commencing on Wednesday. Captain Chesney,~A.A:G., and Staff-Sergeants-Major Burr and McNair, in Gisborne last week in connection with instruction classes to the volunteers, left by the Tarawera last night for Napier. Messrs G. E. Barton, M. McLeod and W. Morgan were passengers by the Tarawera to attend the monthly meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Education Board. Mr E. G. Loteu, Instructor for Agriculture under the Hawke’s Bay Education Board, returned to Napier by the Tarawera last evening. Dr and Mrs Hyde were passengers for Dunedin by the Tarawera last evening. Mr J. R. Nichoils, ironmonger, was a passenger for Napier by the Tarawera last evening. Air H. Hill. Inspector of Schools, who has been in Gisborne during last week inspecting at the local schools, left by the Tarawera for Napier last evening. Air Hill returns on Wednesday to proceed to country schools. A cable message from Sydney states that Sir James Alills and Air George Fenwick were passengers for New Zealand by the Manuka which left Sydney on Saturday.
