INTERCOLONIAL MILITARY SPORTS MEETING. \Vi-m Paess Association.! PALMERSTON N., Oct. 11. Word has been received from Mr. Alfred Deakin, Premier of the Commonwealth of Australia, that the military commandants in the various Commonwealth States had been notified that approval has been given for members of the military forces to attend the New Zealand naval and military sports, to he be held here on November 9th. It is probable that the Commonwealth will lie well represented, which gives added interest to the event. AMATEUR ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION. I Pm i» Pit mss Association.! * WELLINGTON, Oct. 11. At a meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association to-night a report was received from the manager of the team which visited Brisbane. The expenses totalled £55 7s 6d. He complained that the accommodation and food provided at Brisbane were unsatisfactory, and the prices charged exorbitant. In view of the difficulty of obtaining a visit of the South African athletes a committee was appointed to consider the question of getting Wheatly, the Victorian crack runner, and another to visit New Zealand.
