GAS AND ELECTRICITY.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—l would like to ask the manager of the local Gas Company a few main uestions. He lias shown us he is a. man of great experience in the [ireduction of gas, also a gentleman of great travels. Witii your _consent, for the benefit of the public and gas consumers, I hope you will publish the following questions:— Firstly, you must know the great consumption of gas in the city of Birmingham, England, as I think you may have visited that city since I have. Can you tell me what they are charging at the present, per 1000 cubic feet of gas for Inditing purposes? Secondly, can you give me any reason why most of the largest firms in Birmingham have put out the gas and installed electricity? I trust you will answer these questions satisfactorily. If you carmotj I may say Ii am in the happy position to be able to give the public and gas consumers ample evidence on the above questions.—l am, etc., “ELECTRICITY.”
