WELLINGTON, Oct. 15

The conference of delegates from societies for the Promotion of the Health of Women and Children closed to-u~.y. The name of tho Society was changed to the Society for the Health of Women and Children. A resolution was .passed expressing high appreciation, of the work done for the Society by Lady Plunket The next conference will be held at Dunedin in March. Lady Piunket held an at home this afternoon in connection with the conference. There was a large attendance. At the deputation from the Society to the Prime Minister to-day asking for financial assistance, Sir Joseph Ward assured tne deputation of his sympathy with the excellent work done'tiy the Society. He would d° what he could but could not give a definite reply just now.
