TE AKAU BLOCK BALLOT.

The ballot in connection with the thirty sections thrown open for settlement by the Government in Te Akau block which was purchased from the Maori owners took place at Ngaruawhia to-day, there being no fewer than 1071 applications allowed from 455 individuals. For the nine blocks of first class land the successful applicants were: —Campbell (Palmerston N.), F. Fraser (Feilding), S. McGowan (Pa~ huatua), W. W. Drikey (Ohakelxou), F. Morton (Feilding), L. McGuire (Ti Akau), J. Milne (Raglan) Chas Beavau (Hawera), E. Snodgrass {Masterton). The remaining blocks went to the following : Rosina Rolunsen (Auckland), T. Boyd, junr.- (Kaikoura), A. G. Peacock (Ti Akau), A. E. Mcßurney (Ngaruawahia), H. Smythe (Karangahake), M. Ryan (Kemata), C. H. Hedge (Waimana), C. Day (Qhura), S. F. Philburn (Komata), A. McDougall (Manuliui), A. Miller (Waikeruru), J. O’Connor (Otako), J. G. Mahocd (Cambridge), E. L. Smith (Awahou), A. A. Tapp (Raglan), J. E. Richardson (Motu), E. Jarvis (Havelock, Marlborough), F. J. Bear (Taihape), C. L. Sutton (Raglan).
