TO-DAY’S MATCHES

The matches to-day are to bo as; follows:—lu the senior competition, Y.M.C.A. and United will resume their match at Victoria Domain, and Taruheru and Wanderers will continue theirs at Taruheru. In the junior competition, Y.M.C'A. will meet ted, and Alhambra will play Wanderers, both at Victoria Domain. _ Play is to begin in all cases at 2.15 p.m. TOKOMARU RAY CLUB.

The annual general meeting of the To'komanr Ray Cricket Club was held last week in the local hotel. Mr. H. Fairlie was elected chairman of the meeting. ’The report was read, anil stated that tin- club bad played two matches with Tologa Ray last season, one of which was won by the local team. A match was also played with Ihungia and one_ against a team mainly composed of visitors, to the hospital hall, both of which were won by Tokomaru. A local team journeyed to Gisborne and played three matches, one of which was won. Financially, the club is £lB on the wrong side of the ledger, considerable expense having been incurred by fencing the ground and laying down a timber pitch, though most of the labor was free. During the winter Mr. Oates, sent'., and Mr. Oonolo ploughed, levelled, and sowed an oval round the pitch large enough to do all but the long fielding on. This work cost the club nothing hut horse feed. Mr. Wm. Rushy was elected patron; and Mr. E. R. Murphy president of the club, atid"Messrs G. Rushy Turnhull, WV D. S. MacDonald, M.P., Dr. Davis, D. 11. Connellw T. G. Tiuchanan, I). Smith, J. S. Williams, W. Mill, Sax by, Watkins, L. E. Cottcrill, and Bull vice-presidents. Mr. Wm. Oates, sent’., was re-elected lion, secretary and treasurer. It was decided to hold •a basket social on Saturday, October 23rd, in the hall, to raise funds for the assistance of the club. A letter was received from the secretary of the re-established Tupnroa 01 ub asking if Tokomaru could arrange to send a team to Tuparoa on November 9th. It was decided to send n team to Tuparoa, weather permitting, on that date.
